IPhone XS full review – Should you buy it?

The iPhone XS is the iPhone to buy. It’s well worth the high price tag, and there’s no doubt Apple fans will love the entire ownership experience. No other phone is like iPhone. Every decision that goes into iPhone makes it stand apart.

The IPhone X was released alongside the 8 and 8 plus, with its highlights being a near bezel-less design, an improved camera and a new facial recognition system, named Face ID, but having no home button, and therefore, no Touch ID. In September 2018, Apple again released 3 new iPhones, which are the iPhone XS, an upgraded version of the since discontinued iPhone X, IPhone XS Max, a larger variant with the series’ biggest display as of 2018 and iPhone XR, a lower end version of the iPhone X.

IPhone XS is everything you love about iPhone. Taken to the extreme. Super Retina in two sizes — including the largest display ever on an iPhone. Even faster Face ID. The smartest, most powerful chip in a smartphone. The iPhone XS is the first iPhone to support dual SIM, with a physical SIM card and Apple’s own eSIM. Breakthrough dual-camera system. The world’s most popular camera is defining a new era of photography. Where an innovative sensor works with the ISP and Neural Engine to help you create photos like never before.

The iPhone XS truly is in the upper echelon of smartphone snappers, with Smart HDR offering a tangible improvement over the X, specifically in challenging conditions.

Dual-camera system say hello to a new era of photography. A picture is worth a trillion operations. The iPhone XS dual‑camera system harnesses the unprecedented power of the Neural Engine and its ability to perform five trillion operations per second. Together with the Apple-designed ISP, it works like the world’s fastest photographer’s assistant to help turn your pictures into showstoppers.

On the photography front, the iPhone XS pack a dual 12MP camera setup, which boasts a larger sensor than that found on the iPhone X and an improved True Tone flash. There’s a bunch of new Camera software features incoming too, including a new ‘Smart HDR’ mode and the ability to adjust a photo’s depth of field after it’s been taken.

Screen

Iphone XS Screen - yahyamcp.com

Apple first introduced the biggest screen on an iPhone with the iPhone X (though that title has now been surrendered to the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max). With the iPhone XS, you get the same screen size, but with even greater contrast and clarity.

The iPhone XS sports a stunning display, practically unchanged from the one on last year’s top iPhone, and that’s no bad thing. It almost reaches to the edge of the phone’s front, packs rounded corners and a notch.

As for the panel of pixels beneath the notch, it’s a thing of real beauty – quite possibly the best smartphone screen out there right now. The iPhone XS boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 which means images and videos appear in higher definition. Yet, a higher quality screen doesn’t do much if enmeshed with scratches and cracks.

IPhone XS Price, availability, and warranty

The 64GB model starts at US$1,000, and the 256GB variant will set you back US$1,150, and the 512GB model is about US$1,140. They’re available for purchase now.

That said, while the cost of rival smartphones has been going up, the iPhone XS is still going to be one of the most costly phones you can buy (apart from the iPhone XS Max, which carries the eye-watering price tag of $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,799 for the cheapest option)

Apple’s published guidelines for a period of TWO (2) YEARS from the date of original retail purchase by the end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”).

Colors

Gold, Silver, Space Grey.

One change that is easy to spot is the new color: the gold variant is more mocha than anything else, with a touch of copper in the shade, and brings another option in addition to the Space Gray and silver options.

Design

The XS has a design visually near-identical to the X but includes upgraded hardware, featuring the A12 Bionic chip built with a 7 nanometer processor. It also features a 5.85-inch (149 mm) OLED display and contains dual 12-megapixel rear cameras and one 7-megapixel front-facing camera. The XS Max features the same hardware and cameras, but has a larger 6.46-inch (164 mm) OLED display and battery (3,174mAh.It was also noted by the media that the XS received a smaller battery than that of the X (dropping to 2,658 mAh from 2,716 mAh)

The XS looks undeniably premium, sits comfortably in the hand thanks to the pillowed glass and rounded metal frame, and can still be considered one of the best-looking smartphones out there.

Yes. If you’re an Apple fan, this is the phone to buy. We can’t peel our eyes away from the gorgeous OLED screen, and using gestures to move around iOS is pure bliss.
